Detoxing, debloating and ditching the toxins have become buzz words in the wellness world. There are foods, workouts, supplements and all other things that promise to rest your body. And who can resist a relaxing body massage if it claims to help the same cause?

Ladies-only Coya Spa, located in the heart of Mirdiff offers an extensive menu of both modern and timeless treatments, including facials, body treatments, hair treatments, massages, hammams and more. Just entering the plush spa already guaranteed a relaxing experience.

My therapist Magda welcomed me and together we decided the ideal treatment for me. I was first escorted to the spa room for an Iyashi Dome Detox. The Iyashi Dôme combines three important concepts, purification, weight loss and cellular regeneration and takes 30 minutes for one session. It uses long infrared to allow the body to rise in temperature and thus, act on detox, slimming, sleep, skin aging, muscle preparation and recovery. Being in the Iyashi Dome gives a feeling of sunbathing (without the harmful UV rays of course!), and the body immediately feels calm and relaxed, as the skin detoxes with perspiration.

After this, I was ready for what was coming next, a relaxing lymphatic drainage massage, offered by my extremely proficient therapist Magda. The lymphatic system forms part of the body’s immune system. It is made up of lymph nodes which are found all over your body and are connected by vessels. By stimulating the system through massage, it helps to drain excess fluid from the body back into the bloodstream from where it can be flushed out through your kidneys. Using light or heavy pressure (depending on your requirement and request) and long, rhythmic strokes, the lymph fluid gets moving and directs the toxins into the organs that can properly remove them. Magda’s trained hands simply applied the perfect pressure in order to re-stimulate the natural contractions of the lymphatic system.

The benefits of this massage are immense, it supports healthy aging, regeneration and also speeds up metabolism and circulation, boosting your immune system.
