There’s a new Brunch in town!

A new brunch coming to the Dubai scene is always an exciting prospect, and the Sky View Address is launching their new baby, in the middle of Downtown .  The luxury of the Address hotel, paired with this sleek, modern, sophisticated interior, gives way to an enviable poolside brunch with many opportunities for the brunch crowd.  The pool access gives the possibility to cool down while overlooking the Downtown views. Melanie Gordon checks it out.

Greeted with an Aperol Spritz stand, we were taken to our table by the attentive Katerina. She explained all waiting staff had been vaccinated, and Covid measures did indeed appear to be watertight. Once seated in the cool interior of the Glasshouse – there was an outside seating option with air-con and shade. Still, my Scottish husband would have melted, so inside was a must.  We sat by the door in the light and airy space. If you wanted more privacy, there were tables at the sides of the restaurant offering this.  There was a feeling of quiet efficiency with the upbeat music playing as Christina took our drinks orders.  My husband was offered a choice of white wine and was impressed to find the glass was definitely more than half full.  None of the usual half a sip of wine in the glass here!  I asked for a mocktail and was delighted to be given a bespoke pineapple and something yummy in a beautiful glass.

We could see the chefs busying away behind us. And I am pleased to report not one slip of the masks thorough out the service. Hospitality owners need to play it safe during these Covid times. I was equally excited to find that all the cutlery was pre-packed, so no cross-contamination would be possible.

The restaurant was starting to fill. Our cold first starters appeared, slightly more than an amuse-bouche. The delightful sushi, mixed cold seafood platter, Mexican nachos, seabass, salmon ceviche, and fresh oysters were served.  I am not a great fan of seafood, but my husband is, so he delightfully ate his way though them.  The star turn was the lobster tail, as I concentrated on the Mexican nachos – all of this was met with an appreciation of the skill which had gone into creating this starter.

To our surprise, there was another starter course to come but a hot starter.  This was where my heart started to soar. The vegetable spring rolls and the prawn tempura were the hits for us, with the imaginative KFC Korean fried chicken wings coming a close second.  The soy-glazed bao buns were also a delight, with just the right amount of filling in each.

Then onto the main course.  The truly irresistible lollypop lamb chops and the tiny burgers were just on the right side of perfection.  Jacket potatoes were a welcome addition and much appreciated.  The finely chopped tomato and onion added an extra zing with the big flavours of the Shish Taouk skewers. The smack of spice from the beef yakitori was also a great pleasure.

Now just when we were feeling as if we were going to burst, the bento box of deserts arrived, beautifully presented and a real feast for the eye to behold.  We began to demolish our way through the crisp chocolate of the Mangum, giving way to the cool ice cream beneath.  The frozen pistachio macaroon was my favourite, while my husband enjoyed the fresh raspberry tart with its beautiful golden flecks.  The judgment was out on the frozen apricot pavlova, but I think I was too spoilt by the chocolate fondant.

This menu is both imaginative, delicious, and thoughtful, and showcased food from around the world. With its warm and knowledgeable staff, this new Brunch brings you lots of yummy food with a great atmosphere.  The prices will not make you wince, starting at 295 AED. There was a lot to like about this Brunch, and it was more than business as usual for the standard we were shown.
