You must have noticed that the bread section is probably the most popular aisle at the grocery store. But it is also the most confusing. The innumerable labels saying, “organic whole wheat” to “multigrain” to “wholemeal,” and lots more it is enough to make your head spin.

Which bread is beast for your health?

Yeast free bread: is good for anyone with a yeast intolerance. Full of fibre with the chia and flaxseed which is great for weight loss and keeping you feeling fuller for longer. Also recommended if someone suffers from Candida overgrowth.

All are sweetened with coconut sugar which has a low glycaemic index so better than other breads. The low GI make them good choices for breads for diabetics and anyone looking to lose weight.

Brown bread: is a gluten free option for anyone with Celiac, wheat allergy or gluten intolerance. It’s also a high fibre bread, which is good to keep the colon healthy.

The buckwheat bread:  is a great option for anyone looking to control blood sugar levels as it has a low glycaemic index. Buckwheat is high in fibre for a healthy colon. Buckwheat is higher in minerals than most other cereals so us a great choice for the base of a bread. For example it’s a good source of manganese, magnesium, copper and phosphorus. It is also low in physic acid, as opposed to other grains. Phytic  acid acts as a mineral inhibitor.

There’s no need to banish bread from your diet, as long as you stick with bread-buying guidelines. When buying bread, look well beyond the “7-grain,” “sprouted,” or “multi-grain” claims. You need to read the labels!
