You take a turn at Magrudy’s on the busy Jumeirah Beach Road in Dubai and right behind a parking lot, you discover this hidden gem that is unlike anything that you expect in Dubai. Life n’ One Café is an oasis of Zen in a city that is an inspiring alchemy of revolutionary vision
If you are not aware of the place, you may completely miss it as it suddenly bursts upon you in full splendour and charm. It has a slow laid-back hippy vibe with a cornucopia of eclectic things that make it seem like a curio shop!
You enter to hear birds chirping away in the serene setting and a rough wooden desk on which you see Eda Gungor, the Founder working busily on her laptop. You walk down the flagstone walkway amidst leafy surroundings and more chirping birds, to come upon a clearing with a sort of a garden that serves as an outdoor cafe with eclectic seating of log tables and wrought iron furniture all around. At the back there is an enclosed tent to provide shelter and AC for the hotter months. The villa houses a cosy kitchen manned by the lovely Kiki and a studio that has a mix of Yoga, Pilates, and healing sessions at various times throughout the day. This is a pet friendly place and you may come upon a pom snoozing away in a corner with his master sipping a cup of tea in solitude. A wooden shelf houses a medley of trinkets and things that includes things like colourful bottles, charms and curios. The covered tent has comfortable seating arrangements with a mix of tables, chairs and sofas and an interesting collection of books in shelves for you to browse while sipping your green tea.
The menu at Life ’n One is extensive and boasts of healthy/vegan/gluten free options. Everything is sugar, gluten, dairy, soy, and artificial ingredients free. It’s also all organic, and the water is ionised water. The menu includes a wide choice of juices, smoothies, organic tea and coffee with all day breakfast options, plant-based burger options, earthy options, and delicious desserts! We opted for the chickpea omelette that was stuffed with tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced avocado, spring onion and cream cheese. Delicious and utterly filling. Our brekkie bowl was old fashioned granola with strawberry and almond milk. The rocket man was an awesome smoothie with almond, cashew, coconut milk, Turkish coffee, cacao, tahini, coconut sugar, vanilla, and sea salt. Bliss!
We can’t wait to return for breakfast since most of the items on the menu seemed too tempting to resist!
Life comes to standstill in this urban retreat of chill, located within yet away from the bustling busy city with serene environs and comfort fare place and before you even realise you have spent a good two hours in this beautiful place!
