Lenskart arrives in Dubai with gorgeous eyewear at gorgeous prices. Ipshita Sharma checks out their newly launched store at Dubai Festival City and tells us more.
Synonymous with great quality and affordable everyday style, this Indian brand has quickly become a household word across the neighbouring country. It was only a matter of time before they came knocking on UAE, and they’ve finally arrived.
Their flagship store opened in Dubai Festival City last week with fantastic new offers and with fun little add ons like the frame simulator where you can virtually try on each pair of glasses! This is great if you’re not in the mood to try each one on physically or you want to stay as contact-less as possible.
There is also a lovely sun room, which actually gives you an idea of how your sunglasses would behave in the sun. This is because the lighting there mirrors natural lighting. But honestly, it’s also a good way to find out how you’d look with your new sunnies on!!
Divided into ‘Geek’ and ‘Quirk’, this store hopes to help you find something for each side of you. As
Sudhir Syal Chief Business Officer, Lenskart Middle East said to us, “More and more people are waking up to wanting different kinds of eyewear for different occasions. Something cool but nice for work, something funky for going out, even something special for occasion wear. Gone are the days where you had one pair for everything. Eyewear is an underrated fashion accessory and we firmly believe that its time has come.”
Top tips when choosing sunglasses
1. Don’t worry about the brand. Most branded sunglasses aren’t actually great for UV protection.
2. Make sure they’re polarised. You can check the difference between polarised and non polarised glasses in any store and they would shock you!
3. Go crazy where it comes to colors. Have fun with them!
4. Make sure they sit well on your face and cover all of your eye.
5. Check to see how your glasses move when you smile. If the apples of your cheeks are moving the glasses, try another pair.
Top tips when choosing prescription glasses:
1. Choose a material that can handle tough everyday use
2. Choose something lightweight
3. Always try on your glasses and see if they fit in with your face structure
4. Don’t forget to check your PD or pupillary distance to see if the glasses are curving at the right place
5. Don’t forget to ask for an anti blue light filter!
Why Blue light filters?
A lot is being said about protecting eyes from blue light that’s everywhere on our screens. We’re here to tell you why this is such an issue…
[ ] While most harmful UV rays are actually blocked out by our eyes, blue light is easily absorbed by the eye. Which means that if you are constantly looking at digital screens, this blue light might harm your retina.
[ ] Blue light emitted by screens is unfocused and scattered and can easily cause eye strain and headaches and even cause eyesight issues
[ ] An anti blue light filter can significantly decrease the amount of blue light absorption by the retina
[ ] Blue light blocking glasses can help in blocking out more than 30% of the strain that eyes get and so all of your everyday prescription glasses should have it.
[ ] These glasses can also help in the development of melatonin, that in turn helps in decreasing eye stress levels and headaches.
