Palem was developed on Co- founder & Creative Designer, Juliette Barakan’s personal affection towards travel, style and especially the ideology of endless summers. She wanted to bring a concept to life that made people feel like the summer seasons never really end. Juliette believes that both looking and feeling good in our clothes is important and has carefully curated each element of the Palem brand to signify that, all the way from colours including her personal favourites like terracotta, ochre, ecru and eucalyptus mixed in prints developed exclusively for Palem, to the materials that are all environmentally friendly – a value that is very important to her.
Combining versatility, style & comfort in one, all Palem pieces make for great wardrobe staples, including dresses, beach wear, kaftans, jumpsuits, shorts & basics, the collection is diverse, ensuring there is something for everyone. Palem also carries chic accessories that can be paired on top of any outfit for that added Oomph!
Juliette defines fashion as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. She describes her own personal style as versatile, visual and unique. She believes that women are immensely lucky as they get to experiment so much when it comes to style. “Fashion defines personalities, society, the mood of the times. It’s not just clothes or accessories but a reflection of our society. It is definitely a means of expression for both designers and consumers.”

Juliette Barakan | Co- founder & Creative Designer, Palem
Hailing from a fashion education background, Juliette along with her partner, Selim launched Palem in 2019 after several years of research and development in the fashion space globally.
At Palem, Juliette’s role is quite diverse and involves everything form continually developing the brand concept, including collection inspiration, end to end style creation, as well as all related brand DNA work such as managing shoot direction & content production, to ensure the brand DNA is rightfully reflected in all the elements.
An individual that values a healthy work life balance, Juliette enjoys practicing yoga & playing tennis in her leisure time. She is an avid traveller and is often found visiting Bali, where she has a family home – Villa Palem, and serves as a source of great inspiration for Palem’s new collections.
