New skincare treatments to watch out for

Over the past 12 months we have noticed a significant change in the demand for facials due to the current pandemic and daily use of the mask, affecting the facial skin in ways unexpected! Naomi Bell, the founder of NR Beauty, tells us more.

People are now wanting to see instant results from their facials, pushing us in the direction of technology-based facials.

Scientifically proven technology facials like the Elemis Biotec facial are purely results driven. They combine a mixture of 5 different technologies to treat different skin concerns. However, these technologies are not new to the industry, but we do believe they are making a comeback. We have seen people’s skin priorities change; they are no longer just wanting a relaxing hands-on “spa” facial, they want more intense, instant result facials.

The benefits of each BIOTEC technology:

Microcurrent: the only aesthetic technology that can physically firm, lift and tone the skin. Facial muscles are gently re-educated with small pulses of microcurrent

Ultrasonic: the ultrasonic spatula delivers 27000 vibrations per second to the skin via the quartz head. These rapid vibrations help to bring impurities to the surface and creates an exfoliating effect on the skin. This technology is like microdermabrasion but gentler and in a less aggressiveabrasive way.

Galvanic: this is a two-step process using negatively and positively charged ions to push active products deeper into the skin and making them far more effective within a deeper level of the skin. This helps to minimise the effects of stress and tiredness on the skin.

Oxygen infusion: this uses powerful bursts of compressed air to infuse the skin with a combination of 95% pure oxygen with selected high potent products. This visibly plumps out lines and increase firmness on the skin.

Light therapy: this technology emits energy in the form of red light and blue light using an LED stimulation. Red light therapy assists in cell growth and encourages increased lymphatic glow. The blue light therapy has a calming and anti-irritant effect and is useful in killing bacteria.

Dermaplaning is another facial technique that has had a massive demand over the past 12 months. Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique, it is a simple and safe procedure to deeply exfoliate the epidermis of the skin and helps remove the fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz). The results of dermaplaning can be seen instantly; the post dermaplane glow is visible straight away and the skin will also feel much softer.  Again, Dermaplaning is not a new technique in the industry; it has been practiced by dermatologists and plastic surgeons for over 40 years.  Dermaplaning was originally performed as an alternative to chemical exfoliation and later used to prepare the skin for resurfacing treatments and deeper chemical peels. This simple beauty ritual has even been said to date back to the days of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor.

There is a wide range of benefits of dermaplaning facials. Here are some of the main ones:

·     Deep exfoliation treatment which instantly brightens and softens the skin

·     Increases absorption level of skincare products

·     Removes vellus hair which can trap oils and dirt on the skin

·     Reduces the appearance of acne scars

·     Helps to diminish the look of fine lines, pigmentation and wrinkles

·     Pregnancy Safe

·     Great for all skin types

Dermaplaning can be added onto any of the Elemis Biotec Facials mentioned above or it can be done every 4-6 weeks as a standalone treatment, there is typically no downtime after the treatment, but some clients may experience some redness or skin sensitivity for the first 24-48 hours. We have a variety of dermaplaning treatments at NRBeauty to address your individual needs.
