Their idea of a fun Friday is going grocery shopping! Yes! Meet the Bhatias, who love food and music, not necessarily in that order, but if you visit Moreish Café tucked in a quiet by lane of Oud Metha then food it is!
This is foodie Bhavika Bhatia’s brainchild who grew up eating her Mom Vanita Bhatia’s delicious food and innovative homemade recipes and wanted to offer something that felt like a home away from home! This café takes you back in time to where families sat down together to home cooked wholesome, delicious food. It is a seamless mix of nostalgia with the modern where you can see a turntable with classic records playing retro music while seated comfortably in classic wooden chairs and tables with checkered tablecloths. This retro look comes complete with a staff that is more like family. The wall is adorned with adorable posters with quotes on food and pictures of chefs who have inspired Bhavika. Cafe style almost, there is an outdoor and indoor seating available. A very snug and cozy place, Moreish gives a refreshingly inviting feel at a first glance.
We began with a grilled peach and pesto bruschetta, a delicious and unusual mix of wholemeal bruschetta, with fresh basil pesto, feta, grilled peaches, walnuts and balsamic vinegar. A flavoursome burst on your palate at the first bite!
Their signature roasted pumpkin soup was as tasty as it looked, with a dash of chili along with pan fried basil, walnut butter and toasted pumpkin seeds.
For the mains we opted for couscous with chickpea stew as per Bhavika’s recommendation and decided that it was a great choice! It was a delicious concoction of bokchoy and chickpea stew with pan tossed couscous and a tomato onion relish.
We ended the afternoon with a Masala chai, a universal household drink popularly found on street corners in India, with every Indian having their own version of preparing their beloved chai.
With a WiFi free (Yes!!) retro vibe that makes for memorable moments, relaxing music and cozy corners, this is the perfect place to spend a quiet afternoon catching up with friends or with yourself!
