It’s a summer story in White

Whites for summer are such an obvious choice. The colour is not only eye-soothing amidst the scorching summer sun, but it actually reflects heat and is possibly the coolest color to dress up in the summer.  Richa Vij tells you ways to beat the heat looking all angelic and pristine while still not looking oh-so-basic. You can now go on and refresh your wardrobe summer shopping for all things white and light…

  • Go for Embroidery. There’s something so summery about white embroidered tunics and tops. They pair so well with a pair of ice blue denims. The whole outfit makes for a cooling sight. Take it a notch higher by picking up an embroidered white eyelet or scallop dress and look like a fairy on your next beach visit with the sun playing peek-a-boo with your skin.
  • You can never ever go wrong with a crisp White Shirt and it’s no longer just a must-have for your next business meeting. Ways in which you can take that forgotten white shirt, sitting in a corner of your cupboard for ages, are many! Pair it with denim shorts for your next visit to the mall or keep it casual by tying up the ends in a chic knot.
  • Look all dainty and traditional in your white chikkan kurta. Team it with contrasting printed palazzos and throw in some oxidized silver jewellery and make heads turn.
  • When in doubt Cut It Out. Sport an edgy look with a white dress with cut-outs on the waist or an off-shoulder number to let your skin breathe in the hot and humid weather.
  • Choose ruffles for some added drama. Be it tops, short dresses, middies or maxi dresses, ruffled sleeves and hems are everywhere. And boy, do they look classy! Add some extra flounce to your flamboyant summer dressing!
  • Get the boho look right by throwing on a crochet or lace white kimono or jacket on top of your strappy white bralette. This is something you will find yourself carrying to your summer staycation and to the beach get-away if you are planning one.
  • Experiment with the shades and fabrics in white and add some dimension to your monochrome look. With whites there are no rules and similarly it isn’t necessary to focus on one shade when doing an all-white look. You can pair a creamier tee-shirt with snow-white shade of a flowing skirt to add a little dimension to your look. In the same way you can pair a denim white skirt with a laid-back linen top.
  • Invest in a good LWD (Little White Dress, no offence to the evergreen LBD here) or hunt down that over-sized shirt in your husband’s wardrobe wear a long white shirt and dress it up with a statement belt, a necklace and you’re ready for brunch with the girls.
  • Trouser trance. Move over tights and fitted denims for the summer season and make friends with a pair of white wide-legged cropped pants. Not only will it keep your thighs from being all sweaty and sticky but looks pretty sophisticated and works well with all sorts of tees, bralettes and tops.

We hope you have a stylish summer!

The Good: The colour white keeps you cool, literally. These outfit ideas are not something you need to go shopping for. These are basic pieces that probably everyone has so just raid your own wardrobe!

The Bad: White can be a little sheer so wearing an inner or a spaghetti top might be needed.

The Trendy: These outfit ideas are not going out of fashion anytime. They have and will always look good.
