Bombay Bungalow’s new iftar menu will take you by surprise with its rich flavours and unexpected twists to classic Arabic dishes, says Richa Vij …
Ramadan is all about getting together with friends and family and sharing memorable iftars with your loved ones. Located in the bustling JBR, Bombay Bungalow has an old world charm with its Instagram-worthy corners combined with flavourful Indian feast overlooking the magnificent views of Ain Dubai.
As I stepped inside this vintage themed restaurant, I saw myself teleported into one of those huge havelis of Rajasthan with classy interiors complete with a tree in the middle, gorgeous chandeliers, intricate wooden furniture and paintings of maharajas and maharanis adorning the walls.
The new Iftar menu is a culinary fusion of Middle Eastern cuisine with India’s favourite classic dishes. The starters include a lentil soup and the best discovery of this Indian-Arabic fusion of flavours – the Fattoush salad – it’s your classic Arabic salad drizzled with sweet tamarind chutney. That’s taking it a notch higher. Another classic they’ve played around really well with is their Hummus with fresh mango and it leaves an aftertaste of the Indian mango pickle.
Homemade Indian dishes such as Methi Murgh Tikka, biryani are rich in flavor and a must try!
If you are a vegetarian do ask them for vegetarian options on the main course as we didn’t see anything veg on the mains. Their vegetarian starters including samosa and hara bhara kabab are delicious.
If you love the diverse flavours of the Indian cuisine and would like to experience the beautiful fusion of Indian flaours with the Middle Eastern cuisine, head to Bombay Bungalow this Ramadan.
