The Marketplace at Marriot Al Jaddaf took us on an Iftar journey that was so full of color, variety, depth and breadth of offering that I almost felt like a child who was left loose in a toy store and did not know which one to pick up and play with and which one to leave, says Oofrish Contractor.
And I think many people were in a similar situation, visiting food stations and not knowing what to take and what to leave out.
We give you an idea of the mind boggling amount of food that was served …
A variety of dates with hydrating drinks to break the fast was the perfect beginning. Then came an array of dishes to choose from: hot starters, cold starters, a soup and salad corner for the mindful eater, a dedicated section for Cheese platters, shawarma counter for the aficionados along with a mouthwatering line-up of Kebabs. A variety of breads were laid out for those who preferred to have bread with their dishes. Hot and freshly prepared main courses were the mainstay and had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices available. There were four types of rice dishes to choose from and of course, the icing on the cake was the dessert station. It had just about everything that one could want! It was a foodie haven.
One is completely spoilt for choice here and every section is laced with appropriated condiments to go with the main dish. My favorite was the sweets area divided into many distinct parts for:
- Traditional Arabic sweets and Umm Ali.
- A station for cheese Kunafa
- Traditional Arabic cookies made from Pistachio and Awamat
- A variety of Turkish delights
- Ice creams
- Pastries and Gateaux
And finally after a satisfied meal, we were served a refreshing mint tea at the table.
A great place to go with family or friends as there’s something that everyone will love and have lots to play around with. Great ambiance and good service too!
