An ex-banker, Nisha Mani has seen her small home business find love and homes all over the world thanks to her designs that are designed keeping Indian, Arabic and Ottoman influences in mind. Director Nisha fields questions about running a small business through a pandemic and more.
Why did you take a shine to this line of business?
Purely out of passion for jewellery and fashion and the exhaustion of corporate life. I was so tired of bad bosses that I just wanted to be my own boss. Being artistic by nature, jewellery making called out to me as a natural next step.
What type of jewellery rocks your world?
Bold, Statement pieces. Although I do like the occasional minimalistic item, I have always been attracted to bright, vibrant beads and colors and pieces that stand out.
How has a worldwide pandemic affected your business?
Of course it did monetarily affect the business initially but I took time to look toward better connections and collaborations. Of course having to model my own pieces instead of hiring models and organising sales through video calls has been a fun learning curve.
If you were a piece of jewellery what would you be? We’d be cool, silver statement earrings!
I would be a bold statement neckpiece that sits proudly in front and gets all the attention.
