Art is a language that transcends continents, races and religions. Whether it is in the form of photographs or paintings, art has a way of bringing clarity to life as it captures ideas in a timeless manner. Images do not warp or age. In this era, everyone carries photos on their digital devices as a way of remembering moments considered precious. This art draws our attention to things that we may have missed and makes us take a look at things again and appreciate them from a different perspective.
Artist and Photographer, Ambreen Jamil has made it her mission to create art that speaks to the senses. “Photography and painting is an experience that allows me to capitalize on the senses. The way I experience color, patterns and rhythms when I am creating my work, leaves me feeling calm and it has the same effect of those who see my work.”
According to research, immerse your senses in the process of creating art leads to reduction of stress and can even help cope with depression and anxiety. Many psychologists use the creative process of art to guide their patients to healing.
‘OCEAN DEEP’
“For me, creating is a process of healing. I experience the flow state and the after-effects are tremendous. Living a busy life that is increasingly stressful, creating art allows me to slow down and appreciate the motions of life without attempting to control my outcome. At the end of the day, the results are amazing, but most importantly, a representation of the emotions I have managed to channel. Even though I am creating, I am also observing. I take time to look into myself and feel the emotions inside.” Ambreen Jamil adds.
In a time when digital media and hectic lifestyles can cause us to be constantly engaged, the process of creating art allows us to reflect and capture the world.
“Anyone can be an artist, creativity flows from within; it is about coming to terms with one’s inner being. Finding oneself through the medium plays a big role in bringing one into a space of calmness. I capture moments in motion, my viewers feel as time has stopped and I enhance it into neutral colours and they connect with the moment . My art is light to me and to those who see it .” Ambreen comments on her style.
Art unites us. If one is in a room where everyone speaks a different language, Art can elicit positive emotions in spite of the barriers imposed by language and the positive emotions evoked go beyond the surface. It heightens mindfulness, which fosters inner peace.
“Life is as colourful as we feel through our inner peace and outshines all areas of our lives. Be more positive and make the most of the best parts of you. I urge everyone to go out there and create. And for those who are already creating, channel your emotions and allow art to heal you. Allow the allure of art to bring your senses to attention and calm you.” Ambreen advises.

Her advice to collectors, “Pick artworks that provoke your senses with the contrast of details captured. Take time to pause and appreciate the art and meditate on the positive emotions evoked by the paintings.”
