Florals for winter? Groundbreaking!

We sure think Miranda Priestly would approve of these ideas! What’s not to love about having beautiful blooms and a corner dedicated to living decor? Flowers are not just gifts for special occasions, they are more and more seem as the perfect way to give animation to our homes and is also very therapeutic!

Ipshita Sharma chats with @tabrahflowersdubai on tips to jazz up your spaces for cozy winter days, whether you’re staying in with loved ones or having people over for festive days.

1. Winter boho – Boho arrangements bring a great whimsy if you tweak it for the winter. Add some acorns, twigs and snow white ruscus leaves for a super chic winter look.

2. Dark flowers – Bold and dark flowers look great for the festive season. Think maroon, dark purple, royal blues and of course deep red and greens.

3. Adding dazzle – Use gold or silver floral spray on leaves like eucalyptus and filler flowers like baby’s breath, limonium etc. to add some sparkle to your regular flower arrangements.

4. Using seasonal flowers – You get special flowers around Christmas like amaryllis, ilex, pine leaves that can give you a special festive flavour. Don’t forget to brighten up your doors with wreaths or even torans (a Indian floral bunting popularly used to decorate door frames)

5. Get creative – When making floral centrepieces – have fun. Use cinnamon sticks (mmmmm), dried orange slices, tree ornaments or even a snuggly warm scarf for your vase.

6. Ditch the plain glass vases – Jazz up your vase by adding mini tree ornaments in them, spray painting them or using other items like wine bottles, wooden crates, Christmas mugs to make your arrangements.

The Good: Surrounding yourself with natural beauty and a pop of color give you the added cheer you need to meet the demands of your day.

The Bad: It can be a costly habit! And some flowers are unsafe for pets!

The Trendy: Whether you’re eco-conscious with a love of all things simple and sustainable, or love bold statements in decor, flowers can do it all!
