Peel yourself Beautiful

Delna Mistry Anand goes for a skin consultation at the Valiant Clinic and is recommended a Chemical Peel to give her skin a glow! She gets a baby soft, glowing skin and tells us all about it!

After a year and a half of being primarily indoors, stepping back into the summer sun  has a joy of its own. But because of the intense desert summer, our skin is subject to a lot of sun damage and wear and tear. It is always a good idea to up your skin care regime during these months. Using SPF, a good lightweight moisturizer, Vitamin C serum are the basic must-dos. In recent years however, several minimally invasive therapies have evolved to enhance your skin’s appearance, apart from the basic home-care skin routine. Since I had never tried it before, (and my skin could use some TLC), I decided to give it a go.

Valiant Clinic and Hospital, located at City Walk, is a premium, multi-specialty boutique hospital,  offering world-class diagnostic and wellness services, and I was excited to explore their services. My first consultation was with Specialist Dermatologist Dr Shadan Naji who recommended a chemical skin peel to remove sun damage, dryness, dullness and fine lines.

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that involve the careful exfoliation of the skin using an acid. The acid removes a uniform amount of damaged skin cells across the treatment area. When done appropriately, this allows the skin to heal, with minimal scarring or color changes as a result of the treatment.

When I came in for my facial appointment, I was greeted by therapist Joyce, who cleaned my skin and started the procedure using an aesthetic device called MIRApeel. MIRApeel uses a comprehensive 3D Skin Desquamation technology called “Fractional Transbrasion” to address skin rejuvenation and anti-aging.  Joyce informed me that the entire process would take about  an hour and being minimally invasive, it is absolutely painless. There was no visible redness after the procedure was complete and I was free to go home, with a few home-care instructions.

While the treatment itself is free of any pain or major discomfort, be prepared for your skin to shed and peel for the next few days. This is probably the hardest part about getting a chemical peel! But by day 3, I could start seeing the magic. My skin started to glow, feel baby soft, while sun damage and fine lines appeared to fade.

For maximum benefits and maintenance, experts recommend a series of two to four peels, four weeks apart. Afterward, treatments only need to be performed once every three to six months to maintain results. If you have fine lines, wrinkles, skin pigmentation concerns, acne, acne scarring, and other skin texture concerns, you could look into the possibility of booking a chemical skin peel. The team at Valiant Clinic & Hospital are thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and maintain high standards of hygiene.

The Good: Baby soft, glowing skin with fading fine lines.

The Bad: You need to be prepared for skin to shed and peel for a few days.

The Trendy: If you have fine lines, wrinkles, skin pigmentation concerns, acne, acne scarring, and other skin texture concerns, you could look into the possibility of booking a chemical skin peel.
