3 Steps to Create Your Dream Life

Lifestyle design or visualizing an ideal dream life for yourself is an attempt to create a life of your choice, something that makes you happy! It is your life and your plan so you must do it the way you want it, says Sami Toussi.

We all want to be happy and successful. However, when is the last time you stopped to assess your truth? Are you happy now? What is keeping you stuck in pursuing your dream? What are you waiting for?

Understanding the current state, setting goals to create positive change, and visualizing a desired life are the first steps in creating balance and fulfillment in all areas of life.

As a Life Strategist, I work with many clients who feel stuck in making positive change in their life, whether it be leaving their job to finally pursue their passion, gaining confidence in the workplace or communicating effectively in relationships. Last month, I conducted a workshop on how to master creating your dream life through the following steps:

  1. Reflect: It is so easy to get caught up in the day-to day aspects of life and forget to pause, self-reflect, and look at the bigger picture. Slowing down and taking time to think about your life is extremely helpful in creating a better sense of you are, who you want to be, and how you will get there. I work with clients to assess their level of satisfaction in the various sectors of their life (physical space, personal development, social life, health, career, love relationship, family) through an exercise called ‘Wheel of Life.’ Setting aside time to question your goals and behavior enables you the ability to choose whether your time and energy is well spent.
  1. Plan: When you plan, you have the ability to succeed. You want to ask yourself, how am I going to improve my life, my relationship, health, career, finances, etc.? What efforts will I make? How do I want to feel when I have accomplished my goal? Feeding this emotional state will help you keep motivated once the momentum and excitement of the initial effort wears off. Knowing the outcome of your goals, and the purpose of your massive action plan (MAP) will keep you energized and pushing through the hard times.
  1. Visualize: Close your eyes, envision your ideal life, get clear on your future, feel the emotions, breathe in the details. Visualizing creates an inner motivation to strive for your greatest goals and dreams. It promotes positive thinking, which will help you to stay on track to be successful in the long run. Visualization techniques go a long way in helping you to achieve your goals and dreams. There have been countless times in my life where I visualize something and it comes to pass. It might not happen tomorrow or the next day, but it does happen. I encourage you to start visualizing your goals today and see the difference it makes in your life.
